A Greek island has earned a spot among the world’s most sought-after travel destinations for 2026, according to Tripadvisor’s latest global rankings. The annual Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best awards are based on millions of traveler reviews and ratings collected over the past year, highlighting the places that consistently impress visitors.
Crete secured the 9th position worldwide, making it the only Greek island in the global top 10. As Greece’s largest island, Crete continues to attract international travelers thanks to its unique blend of natural beauty, history, and gastronomy.
The island offers an impressive variety of experiences, from rugged mountain landscapes and deep gorges to crystal-clear beaches and ancient archaeological sites. Its strong cultural identity and legendary culinary tradition further enhance its appeal, making it a destination that caters to a wide range of travelers.
Crete also performed strongly in regional and thematic rankings, placing 4th among Europe’s top destinations and 8th globally for food. Other Greek locations were recognized as well, with Santorini ranking 15th in Europe and Athens taking 23rd place on the same list.
