Cyprus on Thursday added Chinese Covid vaccine Sinopharm to the list of approved vaccines accepted for entry into the country.

The decision comes into force on Friday, the transport ministry said in a statement.

The statement said vaccination certificates issued after inoculation with Sinopharm will be accepted for entry into Cyprus.

The island allows entry to travellers, irrespective of nationality, provided they present a valid vaccination certificate from EU members, members of the European Economic Area — Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland – Israel, Russia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Belarus, Serbia, Qatar, Bahrein, USA, Armenia, Georgia, Canada, and Kuwait.

These individuals will be exempted from mandatory testing and quarantine, irrespective of country of departure.

Vaccination certificates are considered valid if the holder has received one of the EMA-approved vaccines, or Russia’s Sputnik V or the Chinese-made Sinopharm, and the required number of days has passed between the last dose and departure.
