Ten million passengers using Cyprus airports in 2017

The number of passengers using the airports at Larnaca and Paphos has already soared to 5.5 million so far this year, while Hermes Airports estimates air traffic will break the 10 million-passenger barrier before the end of 2017.

By August 20, more than 3,800 flights will be carried out at the two airports, seeing around 620,000 passengers travelling.

According to airport operators Hermes Airports, during the period January to July 2017, the number of passengers at Larnaca and Paphos airports reached 5.5 million, recording an increase of 16.3% compared to the same period in 2016.

It is estimated that 30% of the passenger traffic concerns Cypriot residents.

More specifically, 4.1 million passengers travelled through Larnaca Airport, up 20% from last year, while in Paphos the figure stood at 1.4 million, an increase of 6.1%.

In July alone, the availability of seats increased by 13% at Larnaca airport and by 8% at Paphos airport compared to the same month last year.
