Anastasiades: Meeting with Saudi King Salman was Extremely Productive

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades praised the productive meeting he had with the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud on January 3 in Riyadh.

Anastasiades met with King Salman in the first official visit by a Cypriot President in Riyadh, the Cyprus News Agency reports. “The meeting was extremely productive and creative, always, to the benefit of the interests of the Cypriot people and our Saudi friends,” he said, speaking to the staff of the Joannou and Paraskevaides, a Cypriot company operating in Saudi Arabia.

Reviewing the two countries’ diplomatic relations, the President recalled that the bilateral relations stopped in 1964, while the two countries resumed relations in 2015 when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia appointed an Ambassador to Cyprus based in Athens, as a result of the policy implemented by the government. “This was the first visit by a Cypriot President in Saudi Arabia since 1960. I really feel happy that our targets are being implemented one after the other,” he said.
