Revenue from tourism up by 17.4% in 2015

 Revenue from tourism recorded the biggest increase in the last eighteen months in September 2015.
On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey contacted by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, revenue from tourism reached €321,1 million in September 2015 compared to €273,4 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 17.4%.
The increase in tourist revenues in September 2015 was accompanied by a 3.0% increase in average spending per traveler, because of the significant increase of 9.4% on daily spending, despite the decrease by 5.8% in the average stay of tourists in Cyprus this month.
For the period January – September 2015 revenue from tourism is estimated at €1.752,6 mn compared to €1.697,6 mn in the corresponding period of 2014, recording an increase of 3.2%.
An increase was recorded in the amount tourists spent per day coming from major markets such as the UK, Germany, Israel, Greece, Switzerland and Norway.
