The non-profit Cyprus Recycling Organisation (OAK), the first collective Construction and Demolition Waste Management System, recently held the first Environmental Awards Ceremony for its contractors and members, for the years 2019, 2020 & 2021.
The awards ceremony was under the auspices of the honourable Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Costas Kadi and was also attended by the President of the Parliamentary Committee for the Environment, Mr. Charalambos Theopeptou, Senior Officials of the Environment Department and other relevant authorities.
The Board of Directors of the Recycling Organisation have established these annual Environmental Awards since 2019, in an effort to reward the organisation’s members whose main aim is to protect the natural environment of Cyprus and who have been directly and indirectly fulfilling their obligations which are based on the relevant Legislations in place.
This was the first award ceremony that took place, as the award ceremonies of 2019 and 2020 had been postponed due to the pandemic. Mr. Costas Hadjimarcou, the Construction Manager of Leptos Estates proudly received two gold Environmental Awards in the First-Class Constructors category for the years 2019 and 2020, on behalf of the company. Once again, Leptos Estates proves that a more sustainable future is one of its main priorities.
During the award ceremony the key message which the organisers wanted to get across is for more and more companies to implement environmentally friendly practises and improve their internal processes in order to better protect our environment.
