That Paphos is amongst the 100 most sustainable tourist destinations in the world and one of 20 top sustainable holiday destinations in the sectors of cleanliness, green and its harmony with the natural environment.......

Following strict procedures and evaluation by 30 international tourism experts, Paphos was identified as a tourist destination that has worked hard to make the difference and to highlight sustainability, and as a result is included in the List of 100 Green Tourism Destinations of the World. After achieving the Gold Award for Quality Coastlines and a place amongst the Greenest Destinations, Paphos has become well-known for its unparalleled beauty, scenic beaches and rich, rare vegetation and its jewel Akamas National Park.

Basic criteria for the choice of destinations was the cleanliness of seawater, biodiversity of areas, environment, socio-economic status, cultural legacy, lack of atmospheric pollution, noise levels, quality of tourism information available and more. It is pointed out by Tourism Officials of the region that this award completely complies with Paphos’ vision which is to become a superior tourist destination which will offer its visitors an all-round experience and that will sustain the region with respect to the environment and its cultural legacy.

Paphos is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and held the prestigious European Capital of Cultural title for 2017. Apart from its ancient ruins, monuments and archaeological sites, rich history and culture together with a cosmopolitan lifestyle, the region offers many activities including golf, water sports, festivals and cultural events, yacht charter, nature treks, climbing, walking trails, adventure sports, wine tours and guided excursions to rural areas and traditional villages.
