Paphos Remains the Champion in Sales to Overseas Property Buyers and Investors in 2019


The area of Paphos, one of the most beautiful regions in the Mediterranean, the mythical birthplace of  Aphrodite the Goddess of Love and Beauty,  has once again come out on top for attracting the majority of European and Non-European buyers and entrepreneurs for 2019. The cosmopolitan town of Paphos and the entire picturesque province is the safest and most secure area on the Island, where one can live, work and holiday.

Paphos had the lead in purchase contracts to overseas buyers, especially from Europe, for the whole of 2019 by 42,1% in comparison to Limassol which follows with 26,7%. Larnaca is 3rd with 16,5% and lastly Famagusta with 8,2% and Nicosia with just 6,5%.

Over the course of 2019, a total of 4482 property sale contracts were signed by overseas buyers, with 1529  deposited by EU nationals and 2953  by non-EU nationals. At the same time, during the same period, the total number of contracts to overseas buyers has risen 7,5 % compared to the ones signed during the corresponding period of 2018.


The Annual Property Sales in Cyprus during 2019 hit eleven year high and have reached 10,366; the highest number recorded since 2008 (when 14,667 properties were sold ) with sales rising in all districts. 

The perfect climate along with the new cosmopolitan culture in the region has increased the turnout of foreign buyers and investors. Paphos has been identified in the last years as one of the best areas worldwide to buy a holiday home abroad.
