Paphos Aphrodite Festival to Present Cosi Fan Tutte

This year, the Paphos Aphrodite Festival 2014 is set to present the popular, witty opera Cosi Fan Tutte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on September 5, 6 and 7, at the Medieval Castle in Paphos, in co-production with the lyric organisation Opera Futura from Verona and the participation of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.

Speaking at a press conference, the Minister of Education and Culture, Kostas Kadis explained that the festival is an opportunity to enhance the cultural relations of Cyprus with other countries, strengthening musical education and enriching tourism. Paphos Mayor and President of the festival, Savas Vergas, said that the festival has become an institution of international quality, strengthening year on year.

Deputy Head of Mission of the Italian Embassy, Beatrice Vecchioni, meanwhile, revealed that the Embassy will support this year’s edition of the Paphos Aphrodite Festival with a financial contribution in the framework of the Italian Presidency of the EU Council. She added: “Cultural cooperation and the promotion of a shared cultural heritage are of fundamental importance for our bilateral relations and can give a valuable contribution not only to the strengthening of our common European identity but also for the achievement of the priorities set in the programme of the Italian EU Presidency in terms of growth and job creation.”
