Paphos – Cyprus, one of the most Quality Coasts in Europe

11/06/2013
Paphos has become more than a sun and beach holiday destination. The implementation of a sustainable tourism strategy has contributed to a diversify of tourism products and it reduced the effects of seasonality in a substantial manner. Apart from its ancient ruins, monuments and archeological sites, this region provides a great array of activities such as bird watching, climbing, walking trails, adventure sports,  festivals,  wine tours and guided excursions to rural areas and traditional villages.
Positive aspects:
 The town of Paphos is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the UNESCO World Heritage List
 With 12 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag certification, Paphos accounts for over 20% of the total Blue Flags in Cyprus
 The Green and the Loggerhead Turtle breed regularly on the sandy beaches of  the Akamas peninsula. Over the last years a sea turtle conservation project has contributed  to increase the number of specimens considerably
 The tourism business sector has demonstrated to be very concerned with sustainable issues. Most of the hotels and restaurants have received quality certifications such as HACCP, ISO 9001 and ISO 1400
