Paphos airport records high rates of arrivals and departures of aircrafts, to a point that for the first time it has surpassed the corresponding records from the island’s main airport, Larnaca International Airport.
This upsurge can also be related to the complete reactivation of the UK tourism industry, as Paphos is by far the first choice of the British for their holidays in Cyprus. In contrast, to the Russian market, which is currently out of the game due to the war in Ukraine, as well as markets in central and northern Europe, such as Germany and Scandinavia, which are not yet performing well, which at this stage contributes to the less satisfactory traffic of Larnaca airport.
Air traffic officials also mentioned that Paphos, in the period following the pandemic restrictions capitalizes to a great extent on private flights that bring small groups of visitors to Cyprus.
These circumstances during the last quarter have presented an unprecedented move for the off-season of Paphos airport, which in combination with the daily intense activity of Ryanair has turned Paphos airport into a temporary, “flagship” of the island’s entrance gate.
