Paphos mayor, Phedonas Phedonos, signed a new contract aimed at the further improvement and aesthetic upgrade of the old town market area on Thursday, a municipality spokesperson told the Cyprus Mail.
The reconstruction and upgrade project was awarded to OCD+A Studio, the Paphos-based architectural firm responsible for the impressive renovation of the Hani of Ibrahim, adjacent to the historic shopping centre of the town.
“The upgrade will highlight and beautify the old town market area, in our quest to change the image of Paphos,” Phedonos said.
The restoration project includes structural upgrades and aesthetic work that will improve the façade of the buildings in the area. Furthermore, the development of urban equipment solutions will reflect and strengthen the character of Paphos old town. The project comes with a €500,000 price tag, and is currently in the implementation phase.
