The coastal area of Chlorakas is undergoing an upgrade, including the construction of five new breakwaters and other work to protect Chlorakas’ coast between the St. George and Laura hotels, the community leader announces.
“Work begins in November on the construction of five parallel 70-metre breakwaters, a life/boat ramp in Altyzi and other works, specifically in the sea area stretching in front of the St. George hotel and up to the Laura Hotel,” he said.
The project has a price tag of €3.73 million and additional work will get underway on mooring areas. “The construction of the project will last two years and there will be other projects on the land which will also get underway,” he said, including the construction of two beach refreshment areas, public lavatories and the creation of a beach along with other supplementary infrastructure, as well as the construction of three new car parks.
In addition, a tender for offers will see the renovation and change of use for the building where the community offices are currently housed, which will be used by SKE Chlorakas, as an adult centre. The work is expected to start on October 1 and will be completed in just two months. The renovation will cost around €100,000 and will be undertaken at the expense of the Chlorakas community board.
